Producer Overview:

Castello La Leccia is a medieval castle estate near Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone, with a recorded history reaching back to the 11th century. Today it is a certified organic farm producing wine and extra-virgin olive oil. Grapes from each vineyard are harvested and fermented separately with native yeasts, and the estate’s Sangiovese-based Chianti Classicos regularly earn 90+ points from James Suckling.

Wines:

Chianti Classico: Bright ruby, with aromas of flowers and red cherries. Soft and fresh with good acidity and tannins, a versatile food wine. Pair with lasagna, ragù, roasted lamb or braised veal shank. James Suckling 92 points (2020).

Chianti Classico Riserva: Intense ruby, with violets on the nose; vibrant, mineral and velvety, with ripe tannins. Pair with red meat, lamb, wild boar or venison. James Suckling 93 points (2019).

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Bruciagna: Deep ruby and full-bodied, with wild berries, vanilla and spice; built to age. Pair with ossobuco, beef stew or Florentine steak. James Suckling 92 points (2020).
