Producer Overview:
Cálem was founded in 1859 by António Alves Cálem in Vila Nova de Gaia, across the Douro from Porto. The house first shipped Port to Brazil and brought back exotic timber, which is why a caravel ship appears in its logo. Family-run for four generations, Cálem joined the Sogevinus group in 1998. Its wines are made in the Douro Valley and aged in the historic Cálem cellars on the Gaia waterfront, among the most visited Port lodges.
