Producer Overview:

Palazzo Schiavino is a secondary label of Cantina Massara, which is located in the province of Verduno, just north of Barolo and west of Alba. The vineyard was first started in the early 1900’s by Antrea Burlotto. His four sons – Gian Carlo, Francesco, Giacomo, and Sergio – followed him into the winemaking business, with Gian Carlo taking care of the winemaking, and his brothers caring for the vineyards. In 2013, Gian Carlo and his son, Gianluca, took over the winery and purchased vineyards in the Langhe area, bringing the total acreage of vineyards to 25. Most of the vineyards are dedicated to Nebbiolo, particularly the noted Massara vineyard, although Barbera, Dolcetto, and other local grapes are planted in smaller quantities.

Barbera d’Alba

The vineyards are located in the Municipality of Verduno in the Massara area. Short fermentation to enhance the freshness of the fruity aromas. Lovely perfumes and tastes for this Barbera, which is aged in stainless steel for two years. The result is a strong but balanced wine.

Barolo DOCG

Wine obtained from the selection of grapes from three different Verduno hills: Massara, Neirane and Castagni. In the wine the characteristics of three solids are clear: the softness in the tannins (Massara), the gradation and robustness (the white earth of Castagni), and the tannins (Neirare). It is ages for 36 months in the bottle.
